Ian Wright believes Harry Kane will come to regret not winning any trophies in his career, but insists criticism over the lack of silverware will simply ‘drive him’ on.
Kane is currently still waiting to lift the first cup of his career, having agonisingly fallen short with both Tottenham and England.
He looked set to join Manchester City this summer in his pursuit of glory but, after the move collapsed, Kane will instead have to chase success at Spurs this season.

And Wright is adamant that the barren streak will be the only blot on Kane’s otherwise stellar time on the pitch.
‘What’s going to happen with Kane, he’s decided to stay at Spurs,’ Wright said on ITV’s pre-match coverage for England’s clash in Poland.
‘There’s no question, he’s a world class player and at some stage he will be thinking he wants to win things, otherwise he wouldn’t have wanted to go to Man City.

‘Maybe he doesn’t feel like it can happen at Tottenham but at City he felt like that was going to give him that last realisation.
‘I believe he is a world class striker but people will question that he hasn’t won enough. He’s probably going to break the England scoring record.
‘That’ll be the one thing he will regret, if he doesn’t win anything, that’s what will drive him.’
Kane was on the wrong end of a Champions League final defeat at the hands of Liverpool in 2019, as well as an EFL Cup loss by Manchester City last season.

Earlier this summer, he helped spearhead England’s charge to their date with destiny against Italy at Euro 2020, but again picked up a runner’s up medal instead.
In the midst of the fallout, City made their approach for him, but were unwilling to match Kane’s eye-watering £150million valuation.
They eventually conceded defeat, and Kane then posted a statement on social media revealing he would stay at Spurs and insisting he would be fully committed.
Meanwhile, Kane is hoping to close in on Wayne Rooney’s goal tally of 53 for England, and Gareth Southgate has backed him to lead the way for years to come.

‘There is every chance he will go as long as possible because he’s an incredible professional,’ Three Lions boss Southgate said.
‘Normally those things are determined by how you look after your body, what you eat, how you prepare.
‘So he’s going to do that and that’s going to give him the best chance.
‘You never know what circumstance can happen around that, but he will give himself the best chance.’
