Harry, Meghan interview: Allison Langdon says you can ‘guess racist royal’

Today host Allison Langdon says most people can guess which member of the Royal family allegedly had concerns over how ‘dark’ Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s son Archie would be

Meghan Markle sensationally claimed in her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday that a member of the Royal family had expressed ‘concerns’ about ‘how dark’ her son Archie’s skin would be.

She and husband Prince Harry did not disclose who allegedly made the racist remark – although they did tell Oprah afterwards it wasn’t the Queen or Prince Philip – and now royal watchers are desperately trying to work out who said it.

Discussing the explosive sit-down, Today host Allison Langdon said it was obvious who made the comments, but her co-anchor Karl Stefanovic wasn’t convinced.

‘Without saying any names, if you read between the lines a little bit yesterday, I think most people are leaning towards a certain royal,’ Allison said on Tuesday.

Karl asked her: ‘Who?’

‘Well, it’s incredibly defamatory to say so,’ Allison replied, choosing her words carefully.

She then insisted she wasn’t going to mention any names.

Karl seemed genuinely confused by what his co-host was suggesting, saying: ‘But I don’t know who you are talking about. It could be one of four.’

‘I just think there was enough hints that [Harry] dropped in that interview about his relationship with certain people,’ Allison explained.

‘I don’t know which one… No one has the courage to say it,’ Karl responded.

Meghan, who is mixed race, alleged in her interview with Oprah that Harry had been asked by a relative ‘how dark’ their unborn baby would be.

‘All around this same time, we have in tandem the conversation of he won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title and also concerns and conversations as how dark his skin might be when he’s born,’ she claimed.

‘That was relayed to me from Harry from conversations that family had with him.’

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex refused to say which member of the Royal family had had those conversations with Harry because it would be ‘too damaging to them’.

After the interview had aired in the U.S., Oprah revealed that Harry had asked her to make clear it wasn’t the Queen or the Duke of Edinburgh – leaving only a handful of people it could be, including the Prince of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as well as the Duchess of Cornwall.

Palace insiders have reacted with horror to the accusation, saying it was deeply unfair to throw around such a damaging claim, potentially libelling a number of senior royals who are unable to defend themselves.
