Harry Potter cruises are set to start in the UK

Harry Potter fans can now go on a barge cruise to visit the real-life places that feature in the hit films.

The six-day trip sees the boat, Magna Carta, make its way along the River Thames stopping off at places that were used during the filming of the blockbuster movies based on the books of JK Rowling.

The cruise is being offered by American firm Barge Lady Cruises, which describes the trip as ‘magical’ and is packed full of wizardry and Hogwarts-inspired excursions.

The starting point for the holiday is the Hotel Stafford in London for a classic British afternoon tea before being whisked to Hampton Court Palace, which the cruise company says is very similar to Hogwarts.

There guests are able to explore the palace before enjoying a gourmet dinner and heading back to the barge.

The third day starts with a visit to Windsor, where passengers are shown Virginia Water, where Harry first encounters Buckbeak at a beautiful lake in the Prisoner of Azkaban.

The river cruises take place on various dates in August on a luxury barge that can carry up to eight passengers and four crew members.
