Harvest Moon shines over Europe

The sky proved to be quite a spectacle this evening as the Harvest Moon made a late appearance.

Incredible photographs show the Earth’s celestial little brother dominating the night as it passes over Europe.

The Harvest Moon is the name given to the full moon rising closest to the equinox.

It normally appears in September and was traditionally a symbol that told farmers when to harvest their crops.

Sometimes they would do this by the light of the moon.

This is the first time in eight years, the Harvest Moon has appeared in October. It will do so again in 2020.
