Harvey Weinstein ex-wife seen in public for first time

The estranged wife of disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein stepped out in public for the first time today since the sex scandal engulfing her husband broke.

Dressed all in black with her long blonde hair hanging loose around her shoulders, Georgina Chapman cut a lonely figure on her way to a countryside retreat in the Home Counties.

The British designer was last seen in New York on October 6, the day after the New York Times article levelled the first of a series of accusations against Weinstein.

Today, pictures obtained by MailOnline showed Ms Chapman stepping out of a blacked out people carrier and into the winter sunshine.

With her left hand bearing no wedding ring clearly visible, she was driven to the rural town and looked engrossed as she walked around.

Wearing a minimal amount of make-up, Ms Chapman wore a simple calf-length black coat, black leggings and t-shirt, as well as a pair of star-spangled trainers.

The 41-year-old mother-of-two was without her two children and is said to be spending the weekend on a private country estate which may afford her time to contemplate the future without her alleged rapist husband.

She has consulted lawyers to begin the process of ending her 10-year marriage to the accused sex monster – who strenuously denied the claims – as she looks to move on and begin her new life as a single woman.

By her own admission she is ‘heartbroken’ for the women who suffered at the hands of her husband, branding his behaviour as ‘unforgivable.’

Weinstein, who is in rehab in Arizona, has indicated his wife’s decision to leave him has his endorsement saying: ‘I encouraged her to do what was in her heart… I support her decision.’

Ms Chapman’s world was turned upside down early last month when a string of women emerged to accuse her husband of rape, sexual misconduct and other inappropriate behaviour.

Her marriage went into free fall leaving her too look after their two children India Pearl, seven and Dashiell, aged four.

Despite the collapse of her marriage, she has managed to glean some comfort that it has not had a devastating effect on her Marchesa fashion business.

Celebrities have reportedly given her fashion line, which her husband pressured his movie stars to wear on the red carpet, the cold shoulder.

But major boutiques and fashion store directors have denied there has been a buyer’s downturn with some even claiming there has been an increased clamour for her designs.

Her fashion line was set up in 2004 and dresses can be bought for more than £10,000.

The spring 2018 collection of shoes, handbags, jewellery and dresses has just been launched online.

She may also be set to reveal in public, for the first time, the true extent of her pain at the movie mogul’s sexual impropriety.

Among those who have contacted Georgina in recent days is Oprah Winfrey, who wants her to give a tell-all interview.

A source reveals: ‘Oprah called Georgina and asked if she’d come on to her show.

‘Georgina was honest with Oprah and said her head was still all over the place but she would consider it once she and the children were settled.

‘She told Oprah she wasn’t interested in cash – if anything, she’d like her fee to be donated to charity.

‘Oprah has been checking in on her since and has even sent her the number for various therapists she recommends.’

A source close to Ms Chapman said she had no plans to speak about her husband to Oprah or any other media in the near future and wanted to keep her counsel private.
