A pro-Palestine group that has been designated as anti-Semitic by the Anti-Defamation League is planning a ‘Day of Resistance’ across college campuses in support of the Hamas attacks in Israel that killed 1,200.
Students for Justice in Palestine was founded at the University of California at Berkeley in 2001 and counts over 200 chapters across the United States, Canada and New Zealand.
While the ADL claims that the group says ‘they reject anti-Semitism, they also regularly demonize Jewish students who identify as Zionists or proud supporters of the State of Israel.’
The group announced on their Instagram feed Monday that they will hold a ‘Day of Resistance’ in the wake of the Hamas attacks this coming Thursday, October 12, in the latest example of radical campus activism.
In an Instagram post, they shockingly described the attacks: ‘our people have broken down the artificial barriers of the Zionist entity, taking with it the facade of an impenetrable settler colony and reminding each of us that total return and liberation to Palestine is near.’

They appear to support the violent tactics of Hamas and their surprise terrorist onslaught.
‘Catching the enemy completely by surprise, the Palestinian resistance has captured over a dozen settlements surrounding Gaza along with many occupation soldiers and military vehicles,’ the post continued. ‘This is what it means to Free Palestine: not just slogans and rallies, but armed confrontation with the oppressors.’
The group regularly passes out literature showing members how they can message and frame narratives at protests.
They hope to ‘contextualize, frame, and above all normalize and support our fearless resistance.’
SJP goes as far as arguing that Israelis are not civilians, because ‘settlers are not civilians’ and that they are merely ‘military assets used to ensure continued control over stolen Palestinian land.’
‘When people are occupied, resistance is justified,’ they conclude in a ‘National Day of Resistance Toolkit.’
The ADL, in a ‘backgrounder’ on the group, claims that SJP has disrupted students’ pro-Israel events, constructed ‘mock apartheid walls’ and ‘fake eviction notices’ to demonstrate what they consider to be the Israelis treatment of Palestinians.
‘As proponents of ‘anti-normalization’ between pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel advocates, they make it more difficult for groups with diverging views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to work together and achieve mutual understanding,’ they write.

New York University, the University of Arizona, Penn State, the University of Virginia and the University of Colorado in Boulder are among the campuses reportedly set to take part, Jewish Insider reported.
NYU was the focus of one of several controversies regarding student rhetoric in the wake of the attacks, as its Law School Bar Association president has had a job offer from a pro-LGBTQ+ law firm rescinded after she stated that Hamas’ slaughter of children in Israel was ‘necessary.’
This comes after students at several Ivy League institutions, including Harvard and Columbia, condemned Israel after the war broke out.
Students at Stanford University also showed their support for Hamas as they hung bedsheets with slogans from their dorms.
A group of 31 Harvard organizations, including its branch of Amnesty International, has placed the blame on Israel for Hamas’ brutal, surprise attack.
The organizations released a letter to the public as a ‘Joint Statement by Harvard Palestine Solidarity Groups on the Situation in Palestine’ on Sunday to condemn Israel in the wake of the violence.
They said that Hamas’ attacks, which are still ongoing, ‘did not happen in a vacuum’ and the Israeli government has forced Palestinians to live in ‘an open-air prison for over two decades.’
‘We, the undersigned student organizations, hold the Israeli regime entirely responsible for all unfolding violence,’ the groups wrote.
A student organization from Columbia has joined in the chorus of equivocation by calling the terrorism a ‘counter-offensive.’
The Columbia Students for Justice in Palestine said: ‘The weight of responsibility for the war and casualties undeniably lies with the Israeli extremist government and other Western governments,’ the statement, which was also signed by a group named Jewish Voice for Peace, read.
