Ian came out to fans six years after the video was released.

This prompted one user to comment: ‘You could’ve had a male love interest. You chose not to do so. Don’t play hindsight when it was cowardice.’

Ian hit back at the internet troll saying: ‘COWARD?? I mentioned that if I could change one thing about our videos, it would be to have a male love interest! I am not a coward.

‘I was still coming to terms with my sexuality. It was also a very different time to be openly gay.

‘I am now loud and proud in my life, work and activism. Times have changed, but we still have a long way to go ( even within the LGBTQI community- as this shows!).

‘It’s because of incredible trailblazers in our community that this generation CAN be their authentic selves.

‘Coming out is personal. It’s not for anyone to decide when you do it. Hopefully one day we won’t have to ‘come out’! So, before you type, think.. and be grateful that you can live your best life! #lgbt #lgbtq #comingout.’
