An elderly couple who fell and tumbled backwards on an escalator were saved by a group of onlookers in east China.
CCTV footage showed the 80-year-old husband and wife lost their footing while taking an upward escalator that led to a footbridge.
A security guard was alerted and held up the man as some other passersby came to pull the woman up from the top of the escalator.

The accident was caught on security camera near Gongshang University in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province on May 24.
The pensioners can be seen rolling head over heels several times on the moving stairs.
Seconds later, more than half a dozen of passers-by including some students rushed to help the pair.
However, throughout the entire process, nobody attempts to stop the escalator by pressing the emergency button.
The pensioners end up riding the escalator to the top anyway and were carried off by the onlookers.
The elderly woman’s shoes came off during the incident.
The couple did not sustain any serious injuries in the matter.
