Formula One superstar George Russell has sent tongues wagging on Instagram after the Mercedes driver posted multiple snaps of himself showing off his guns during a gym session.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to the 2025 season, placing inside the top five in his opening five races, including three podium places.

The British star began the year with back-to-back third-place finishes at the Australian and Chinese Grand Prix.

He’d drop to fifth in Japan before finishing second in Bahrain.

Interestingly, it comes as shock reports from The Race have implied that Russell has held informal talks with Red Bull chief Christian Horner over a potential move.

That comes after it had appeared Russell was progressing in negotiations over an extension to his contract with Mercedes for 2026 and beyond.

In the meantime, Russell appears to be focusing on performing for the Silver Arrows this season and posted a few snaps of himself working out in the gym.

The images were taken in partnership with his team’s kit suppliers adidas.

The Formula One driver looked shredded as he made his way around the gym, doing pull-ups, lifting weights and working on his core strength.

But the pictures had many talking on Instagram, with one social media user writing: ‘Man has to be zero per cent body fat.’

Another posted several love-heart emojis, while one added: ‘What in the thirst trap.’

Mercedes added: ‘Just casually dropping these on a Wednesday evening…’

‘Excuse me sir?’ another wrote. 

‘Oh my gosh he’s got gym game,’ said one Instagram user. 

Mercedes F1 team took to Instagram to comment on Russell’s post, writing: ‘Just casually dropping these photos on a Wednesday evening’ 

Russell, who slumped to a fifth-place finish at the Saudi Grand Prix last weekend, has also revealed his thoughts on the speculation that Max Verstappen could be set to join up with Toto Wolff’s side.

‘Why wouldn’t they want to sign Max? It’s totally understandable,’ Russell said.

‘He’s the best at the moment. He’s a four-time World Champion. That’s not anything against me or Kimi.

‘There’s two drivers for every team and he is one person.’
