Heartwarming meaning behind Peppa Pig’s new baby sister’s name is revealed

Peppa Pig is a big sister once again after the birth of her baby sibling on Tuesday.

Mummy and Daddy Pig confirmed the happy news on Good Morning Britain, revealing their third piglet’s name is Evie.

And now the heartwarming inspiration behind little Evie’s moniker can be revealed. 

GMB’s Richard Arnold gushed during the TV announcement: ‘Daddy Pig has just shared these pictures with me of Peppa’s brand new baby sister Evie, named after Mummy Pig’s Aunt Evie.’

Aunt Evie has never made an appearance in the TV cartoon, which also features Grandpa and Granny Pig, but Mummy Pig clearly had a close relationship with her aunt. 

The mum of three revealed during her pregnancy that she and Daddy Pig were struggling to come up with the perfect name for their third piglet.

‘We’ve got SO many ideas for names. Too many, frankly!’ she confessed to Grazia.

‘Knowing it’s a girl has narrowed our options down a bit – I’m not sure Peter, Percy or Patrick Pig really work as girls’ names!’

‘But it’s too difficult to choose now. When she’s here and looking up at me and Daddy Pig, we’ll just know the perfect name. That’s what we did when Peppa and George were born.’

Mummy and Daddy Pig are already parents to Peppa, four, and George, two, and  back in April fans were left ‘screaming’ after discovering Peppa’s real name.  

Despite the iconic character being on TV for a whopping 21 years, fans have only just learned that Peppa is in fact her middle name.

With her full name being: Pepperius Peppa Pig, as reported by Good Find Toys.

Many have been left gobsmacked by the revelation and took to X writing: ‘Peppa Pig’s real name being Pepperius Peppa Pig is making me scream!’

‘Peppa Pigs full name is Pepperius Peppa Pig. You learn something new every day’.

Mummy Pig, who has a job involving doing ‘very important work’ on her computer and Daddy Pig, who ‘takes big numbers, transmutes them and calculates their load-bearing tangents,’ welcomed their little girl at the Lindo Wing in London – the same location where Kate Middleton gave birth to all three of her children.  

 The birth was announced with a royal-inspired twist on the classic royal birth announcement, complete with a town crier, a scroll-style proclamation, and the unveiling of an official Peppa Pig birth certificate. 

Big siblings Peppa and George are said to be over the moon and excited to meet their new baby sister, while Mummy and Daddy Pig are ‘looking forward to lots of happy snorts and sleepless nights.’  

GMB revealed that ‘understandably, Mummy Pig is resting but Daddy Pig has let me know he will be free to catch up next week for his first ever TV interview and another glimpse of the new baby.’
