Newly released footage shows the incredible moment a drone camera successfully locates a three-year-old child who replies ‘I found a cat’ after being lost for an hour in a massive Wisconsin cornfield.

The toddler’s parents made a 911 call to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office after the child went missing inside the 100-acre ‘standing cornfield’ behind their home on August 25.

As officials arrived on scene, they discovered that the boy was last seen at around 7.30 and there was no sign of him in any of the family’s barns or buildings.

To increase the search range, officials from the Alto Fire Department as well as a drone operator with the City of Fond du Lac Police Department were requested by the Sheriff’s Office.

In a matter of seconds, Fond du Lac County Deputy officers and fire personal waded their way into the cornfield to towards the child and were able to rescue him.

One of the first responders could be heard quickly assuring the child and telling him: ‘We’re right here buddy, we’re right here for ya. You’re safe now. You’re alright. We’re going to go back and we’re going to find your mom, okay?’

After the rescue, Lt. Alex Volm of the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office said: ‘A harmless thing, you know, but it could have turned out really bad had we not had the opportunity to use our tools and collaborate with our law enforcement partners.’

Authorities also noted in the social media post: ‘Instances like these highlight the importance of technology and collaboration amongst law enforcement in our community.

‘Without the use of the thermal imaging drone, it would likely have taken Deputies and other first responders hours to search the entire cornfield and the outcome may have been different. Below is the full press release and thermal imaging video from the drone.’
