Heated moment two men start wrestling after an altercation

This is the shocking moment a man was wrestled to the ground at a service station after having a heated conversation with another driver.

The pair were caught on CCTV footage shoving one another, before the man in blue was restrained and police called to the scene.

However, the altercation was actually an arrest made by an off-duty officer who had seen the other man allegedly driving erratically minutes before, police say.

The shocking moment a 28-year-old man (in blue) was wrestled to the ground at a service station has been caught on camera, however the man in red was actually an off-duty police officer

The incident occurred around 3.30pm Saturday when the off-duty policeman claimed to have spotted the man driving a Mitsubishi Lancer in a dangerous way.

He then instructed him to pull over and after a discussion, the officer could be seen restraining the man with the assistance of a member of the public.

The 28-year-old Cronulla man was then placed under arrest by Bankstown officers after returning a positive breath test.

He has since been charged with high-range drink-driving following an alleged reading of 0.234 and will front court on December 13.

‘Our members are right throughout the New South wales road network whether they are on duty or off duty,’ Chief Inspector Phil Brooks told Nine News.

The arrest formed part of the second day of Operation Drink Drive II, which targets dangerous driving behaviours including drink-driving, drug-driving and speeding.

The operation has so far seen 56 arrests on drink-driving charges with more than 63,000 breath tests conducted across the state.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Command’s Acting Assistant Commissioner Stuart Smith said police had also seen an increase in speeding offences.

‘Speeding and drink-driving are two of the top causes for crashes that kill or injure people and taking these risks on the road means that you are committing a criminal offence,’ Mr Smith said.

‘Unfortunately three people died on NSW roads yesterday so when we stop people, we are not out to ruin their day – we’re enforcing road safety for everyone.’
