Oleksandr Usyk has delivered his verdict in the latest social media trend, which has seen people ponder whether 100 men or one gorilla would win in a fight.

The question has been debated over social media in recent days, but the viral debate originated back in 2020.

A Reddit user posed the question in a whowouldwin subreddit, with other users then weighing up the possible scenarios.

A twist was put on the question when it was posed to Usyk in an interview with talkSPORT.

‘How many Oleksandr Usyks would it take to beat one silverback gorilla?’ the heavyweight world champion was asked.

The Ukrainian fighter, instead, offered faith in two of his four children to successfully win in the hypothetical situation.

‘My son, enough maybe,’ Usyk offered in reply.

‘Okay maybe two of my sons, Mykhailo and Kyrylo.’

Usyk’s response reflected remarkable faith in his sons, who have opted to compete in judo rather than boxing, with Kyrylo and Mykhailo aged just 12 and 10 respectively.

Usyk was then asked ‘And you, one Oleksandr is enough?’ with the 38-year-old responding ‘Yeah, yeah.’

The Ukrainian fighter’s engagement with the question came amid the promotion for his upcoming undisputed heavyweight title fight with Daniel Dubois.

The blockbuster rematch was confirmed on Sunday and will be held on July 19 at Wembley Stadium.

Usyk, the undefeated Ukrainian who has already been undisputed at both cruiserweight and heavyweight, has been in training camp for several weeks.

All four major belts once again on the line.

Usyk famously beat Tyson Fury in May last year to unify all four heavyweight titles, before later vacating the IBF belt — a title that Dubois now holds.

After defeating Fury again in December 2024, Usyk turned his focus toward the winner of Dubois vs Joseph Parker, but Dubois withdrew from that fight due to illness. Parker instead faced Martin Bakole in Saudi Arabia, beating him on points.

Following that, Usyk and Dubois entered discussions, with Dubois emerging as the natural next opponent given his status as IBF champion.

Although the WBO had ordered Usyk to negotiate a mandatory defence against Parker, the Dubois fight will still go ahead next.

The July 19 bout reignites a rivalry that began last August in Poland, where Usyk stopped Dubois in the ninth round.

That result sparked major controversy after a body shot that dropped Usyk was ruled a low blow earlier in the contest, leaving Dubois’ camp feeling they had been denied a legitimate victory.
