Hebersham man charged after ‘throwing five-month-old baby at a wall

  • Police were called to a Hebersham address shortly after 2.30pm Wednesday 

A man has been charged over a domestic violence incident that left a five-month-old baby in hospital. 

The baby boy received minor injuries after the man allegedly picked up the stroller it was in and tossed it into the air during a heated argument with a woman.

The 21-year-old man was arrested following the incident in Hebersham, western Sydney, shortly after 2.30pm Wednesday.

Police were called to a home on Jersey Road after receiving reports of a domestic violence altercation between a man and a woman.

Officers were told a 21-year-old man picked up a stroller, which had a five-month-old baby inside, and threw it before leaving the scene following an argument.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the baby at the scene before taken it to Westmead Children’s Hospital where it was treated for head injuries.

Officers from Mount Druitt Police Area Command established a crimes scene and launched an investigation.

The accused was arrested near Stevenage Road and was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station.

He has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was granted conditional bail. He is due to appear in Mt Druitt Local Court on 25 June.
