Here’s a sneak peak at Zara’s new collab with YSL legend Stefano Pilati

Here at YOU, few things get us as excited as a good designer/high-street collaboration. You get all the flawless cuts and tailoring associated with high-end brands, but at a much more accessible price point. Win-win!

This year has been the best in a long time when it comes to killer collabs. We’ve had Sienna Miller’s sophomore collection with M&S; Victoria Beckham and Mango; and the ultra-bougie-looking Rokh x H&M fusion. Now, yet another partnership has been added to that list – and we reckon it might be the best one yet. Everyone’s go-to high-street giant, Zara, will be working with Saint Laurent legend Stefano Pilati.

Pilati served as head designer at YSL from 2004 until 2012, and was the prodigy (and successor) of fashion great Tom Ford. There, Pilati was responsible for iconic pieces from the tulip skirt to the Muse bag, before leaving to establish his own brand, Random Identities, which focuses on modern pieces inspired by Berlin’s queer culture.

He’s bringing that avant-garde spirit to his new Zara collection. Spanning both mens- and womenswear, there’s sharp tailoring, clever cutouts, a moody colour palette of greys, and (of course) plenty of leather.

In a press release, Pilati described his collection as ‘paradoxically timely and timeless,’ adding: ‘A quiet sensuality is expounded through tailoring and fluidity, while a focus on silhouette, on fabrication and cut, result in piece with eternality at their core.

‘Transgressions allow rules of dress to be challenged,’ he writes. ‘Crêpe softens suiting, evening proposal slipstream to day. The circle, a symbol without beginning nor end, is a leitmotif echoed in accessories, jewelry and through studded decoration.’

In another uber-chic touch, Pilati picked long-time collaborator Gisele Bündchen to model the range, whom he describes as ‘transcending the role of muse or top model’. Anything good enough for Gisele is most certainly good enough for us.

Priced between £15 and £300, the 104-piece collection will be available to shop in-store and online from Thursday 3rd October. Musing over which pieces to add to your basket? See our pick of the best of the bunch below…
