Judy Garland sang that life is just a bowl of cherries. And this winter, that’s true in the world of fine fragrance.
Because there is no bigger or more tempting trend right now than cherry perfumes.
‘Cherry is the most mouthwatering of all the notes in the perfumer’s palette,’ says Paris-based Claire Liegent, who has incorporated cherry in her just-launched Edeniste, Oud Ghazal.

‘As well as literally making you salivate, there is something joyful about cherry.’
The boom is partly thanks to TikTok, which can have a huge impact on scent sales when a perfume goes viral (#cherryperfume).
And it’s a trend that’s set to escalate, with the launch later this month of Cherry Baby, the third fragrance from American singer Sabrina Carpenter.
So, here is a bowl of my favourite cherry scents. All made to make your mouth water – and with something for every perfume-lover to bite into…
FLIRTY AND FRUITY
Elie Saab, Elixir Love, from £49 for 30ml eau de parfum
Elie Saab, Elixir Love, from £49 for 30ml eau de parfum
Described as an ‘enchanting love potion’, cherry’s flirty side is pushed to the forefront, with notes of rose, fresh neroli and jasmine scampering throughout. Long-lasting, potent and nuzzleable.
GLOSSY BLACK CHERRY
Edeniste, Oud Ghazal, £240 for 100ml eau de parfum
Mouthwatering, glossy black cherry elegantly sweetens notes of leather, toasted embers and sensual musks, all infused with Edeniste’s signature ‘wellbeing accord’, an uplifting blend used across all their fragrances for extra feel-good factor.
RICHLY PINK
Dolce&Gabbana, Q, £70 for 30ml eau de parfum intense
Dolce&Gabbana, Q, £70 for 30ml eau de parfum intense
A spin on the designer duo’s original Q, with the pink colour of the fragrance in the crown-capped bottle hinting at its cherry richness, which is freshened by Sicilian lemons, then warmed by sweet amber.
WARM AND WOODY
Kayali, Lovefest Burning Cherry 48, from £28 for 10ml eau de parfum
Kayali, Lovefest Burning Cherry 48, from £28 for 10ml eau de parfum
From beauty entrepreneur Mona Kattan’s brand, a warm cherry that also has a woody side (patchouli), a sweet facet (praline note), and luscious raspberry ramping up the juiciness.
SWEET AND SOUR
Borntostandout, Indecent Cherry, £160 for 50ml eau de parfum
Jun Lim, founder of the Korean brand Borntostandout, wants us to think of this ‘as the fragrance version of slipping a nip of bourbon into your cherry milkshake’. Naughty but nice, with layers of rose, mimosa and musks.
CANDY NOTES
New Notes, Latte di Cherry, £149 for 50ml extrait de parfum
New Notes, Latte di Cherry, £149 for 50ml extrait de parfum
So, you like your cherries candied? The sweetest of this crop also serves up red berries, almond, vanilla and musks with a bouquet of white flowers, and it’s super-moreish.
ATTENTION SEEKER
Juliette Has A Gun, Juliette, from £100 for 50ml eau de parfum
Too soon to start thinking about the Christmas party? Never. This attention-seeker melds black cherry and pink pepper with jasmine and base notes of rich Ambroxan, smoochy Cashmeran and tonka. Shrinking violets need not apply.
…AND A DIVINE CANDLE
Defrei, Lobby Candle, £42 for 185g (burn time 36 hours)
Last but not least, the best cherry-infused candle, from make-up artist and social media superstar Danny Defreitas. Cherries swirl alongside rich frankincense, jasmine and spiced vanilla, designed ‘to bring a five-star hotel lobby into your space’.
Honestly fah-bu-lous.
