Dozens of unsuspecting people had the brand new iPhone X tossed in their direction despite it being the most expensive phone ever.

Popular Youtuber Joshua ‘Hi Josh’ Hawkins filmed himself carelessly throwing the $1,829 device over his shoulder at random passersby in Brisbane.

Though some quick-thinking people were able to catch the phone with a second’s notice, many times it clattered to the ground.

Often he would simply yell ‘wanna see the new iPhone?’ or ‘catch this’ before throwing it, only for people to dodge the flying handset.

Josh even threw it up and down the balcony of the Pig & Whistle pub in Brisbane’s CBD with usually disastrous results even when the catchers were ready for it.

But when Josh showed the camera the phone at the end of the video, its screen was intact and it didn’t even have a scratch on it despite dozens of throws.

The whole stunt was to test the protection of a range of cases for the iPhone X by US company tech21 – before (L) and after (R) shows scratch on the case but no damage to the phone

The reason was the whole stunt was to test the protection of a range of cases for the iPhone X by US company tech21.

Josh’s phone was fitted with the firm’s $59.95 Evo tactical flexshock case, its hardiest model with others costing $40 or $50.

The case was only rated to three metres, so perhaps he was a bit lucky to get away with throwing the phone off a balcony.
