Racing NSW released a statement on Wednesday claiming Mrs Snow repeatedly refused to provide her mobile phone to stewards as part of an investigation into betting records of a racehorse business.

She was banned for allegedly obstructing and hindering a steward’s investigation.

‘Mrs Snow refused to produce her mobile telephone for imaging, as directed, on the basis that she wished to assert her common law privilege against self-incrimination and also informed the Racing NSW Stewards that also intended to assert common law privilege against self-incrimination and not provide any information or evidence at any inquiry,’ the statement read.

‘Mrs Snow was repeatedly warned that failure to cooperate would be subject to sanction without further notice, including possibility of being warned off until she did fully cooperate.

‘Mrs Snow’s refusal to cooperate with Racing NSW Stewards has obstructed and hindered them in investigating matters that are potentially of serious concern.’

The ban will remain in place until Mrs Snow cooperates fully to the satisfaction of Racing NSW and its stewards.

‘Racing NSW has zero tolerance for those that obstruct and hinder the maintenance of the integrity of thoroughbred racing in New South Wales,’ Racing NSW chief executive Peter V’landys said.

‘We have set a precedent in warning off, and/or excluding from participation, those persons that jeopardise the integrity of racing and it is important that we maintain that strong stance.

‘Even though Mrs Snow has refused to cooperate, we will continue to pursue the matter to ensure the integrity of thoroughbred racing has not been compromised.’

TAB also released a statement saying: ‘Tabcorp works closely with racing and sports controlling bodies when asked to assist with their inquiries.

‘Sally Snow has made the decision to resign from Tabcorp. As this matter is subject to a stewards’ inquiry it would be inappropriate to comment further.’
