A high school football star has died at age 17 after being shot in Chicago over the weekend, just days after graduating. 

DeAngelo Miles, a team captain at Hansberry College Prep school, was at an after-prom party with friends when the tragedy occured with police believing the incident may have been an attempted robbery gone wrong, according to TMZ. 

The Chicago Police Department said it received a call regarding a person shot at around 3am on Sunday, 

When officers arrived on the scene, witnesses said they had discovered a teenager in an ally after hearing gunshots. 

The victim, who was later identified as Miles, was discovered unresponsive on the ground with a gunshot to the head.
