High-tech pillow uses NASA technology to help you sleep

  • The £95 Simba Hybrid pillow harnesses NASA-approved technology
  • Outlast surface helps regulate the body’s temperature throughout the night
  • Its shell – or case – is spun with 300 thread count (100 per cent) cotton
  • Nanotubes automatically react to shape, weight and position of your head

Forget counting sheep – scientists claim they have devised a formula for the perfect night’s sleep, and it comes in the shape of a £95 ‘hybrid’ pillow.

The Simba Hybrid, which hit stores last week, boasts a high-tech design which helps owners catch 40 winks by regulating their temperature throughout the night.

The ‘one-type-fits-all’ bedroom accessory has harnessed NASA-approved technology which responds to the heat of sleepers’ bodies as they nod off.

The pillow’s surface is built with Outlast, a phase-change material originally designed for NASA which proactively manages changes in body temperature throughout the night.

The secret to a perfect night’s sleep? The Simba Hybrid Pillow features NASA-approved Outcast technology to regulate body temperature and Nanotubes which react to the shape and weight of your head

It’s also touted as the first of its kind to use Nanotubes – laser cut, cylindrical memory foam tubes designed to automatically react to the shape, weight and position of your head.

The Nanotubes are also adjustable, letting sleepers choose their support level from soft, medium or firm.

Makers say the intricate design makes the pillow more supportive and ‘responsive’ to the body’s needs than a traditional memory foam pillow, ensuring the best chance at slumber.

The pillow’s shell is spun with 300 thread count (100%) cotton and also features a tier of made from 90 per cent duck down and 10 per cent feather to ensure the most luxurious night’s sleep.

How it works

– Nanotubes adjust to different support levels (soft, medium firm or firm)

– The pillow shell is encased in 300 thread count cotton (100%)

. Shell features a tier of premium duck down (90%) and feather (10%) to ensure a luxurious night’s sleep

– Features Outlast, a phase-change material designed for NASA which regulates body temperature

The hybrid pillow follows their mattress and airplane seats which made waves when they were launched earlier this year.

Simba said: ‘A poor mattress can result in a restless night, setting you up badly for the day – but how often do you take into consideration the quality and comfort of your pillows?

‘Often undervalued, the pillow has a mighty job on its hands. Supporting one of the most important, busiest and heaviest parts of your body – the human head – which weighs between 4.5 and 5.5kgs.

‘According to the Sleep Council, a good pillow should hold our head in the same position as it would be if you were standing upright with good posture.’
