Hilariously honest adverts that might just work

Sublime messaging! Hilarious signs advertising ‘genuine fake watches’ and a gym that ‘can’t make you pretty’ win top marks for BRUTAL honesty

  • 17 brutally signs advertising for business, services or notifying passers-by
  • One honest restaurant’s sign read ‘English – not very good, my food – is great’
  • One security company living on the edge, admitted they didn’t watch camera

In this age of social media, we’re constantly bombarded by advertising, but sometimes what it takes to grab your attention is a good old-fashioned sign.

And the people behind these adverts, shared to Reddit by amused onlookers from around the world, certainly get top marks for creativity – not to mention brutal honesty.

One US bar admitted that it had splashed out on a $400 sign to tempt customers to buy a $6 beer, while a book shop in Johannesburg described itself as the ‘second best’ in town.

From a sign advertising ‘genuine fake watches’ to a gym inviting ‘fat and ugly’ clients to come in and lose weight, these hilarious signs

At least they’re honest! Whoever follows this sign can’t complain they did not know what they were getting themselves into

Can a rum and coke really be that bad? This pub owner seemed to hold a grudge against a Yelp reviewer, but made the most of it with this very funny sign

Other signs included a petty traffic jam notification that simply read: ‘You’ll never get to work on time ahah!’

Another petty sign was put up in front of a house for sales, which read: ‘House for sale by owner because my neighbour’s an a******.’

And an equally petty pub put out it’s own chalk board sign which read: ‘Come in and try the worst rum & coke that guy on Yelp ever had in his life.’

But some of the signs just showed self-awareness from their owners. One sign in front of a Thai restaurant read: ‘My English – not very good. My good – is GREAT,’ in an attempt to reassure customers.
