Hilary Swank pays emotional tribute to her father Stephen Swank two years after his death: ‘I love you forever’

Hilary Swank paid tribute to her late father Stephen Swank this week.

The 49-year-old award winning actress — who became a mother this year — took to Instagram to share an old photo on the two year anniversary of his death.

Uploading the snapshot for her 1.6 million followers to see, she wrote in the caption, ‘It’s been two years since you passed. You brought so much joy to all who were blessed to know you. Your memory still does.’

The heartfelt post concluded, ‘I love you forever.’

More than 31,000 of her followers have so far liked the commemorative post.

The Million Dollar Baby star was her father’s sole caregiver at the time of his death in 2021.

Her dad had been the recipient of a lung transplant and the Oscar winner grew close to him in the intervening years. 

After he died, Hilary took time away from social media to mourn her loss.

She returned in January 2022 and shared, ‘This past year was a big one for me and I know for so many of us. I have been off my phone and social media for a couple months due to a tremendous personal loss.’

‘I had a rather unique relationship with him as I was his sole caretaker after a lung transplant seven years ago,’ she said at the time.

Swank added: ‘I grew incredibly close to him during this time, deepening our relationship and savoring every moment we had together.’

‘He will always remain one of my most favorite persons and not a day goes by that I don’t miss him. But in this physical loss, as devastating as it is, I was awakened to the truest sense of living again,’ she opened up.

She uploaded four photos, including a black and white image of her dad holding a flower to her nose. 

‘You would be 75 today, and a Great Papa to two more extraordinary souls. I celebrate you everyday and the beautiful grace filled gift you were and continue to be in my life,’ she wrote thoughtfully.

‘You are greatly missed by so many, but I can’t imagine anyone missing you more than me. Thank you for being my guiding light. I love you, Dad. Always and forever through every lifetime.’

Hilary welcomed twins — a boy and a girl — earlier this year after revealing her pregnancy last October.
