Rodham was born in 1954 and raised in the Chicago suburbs with his siblings, Hillary and Hugh Rodham.

He worked a variety of jobs, including stints as a prison guard, insurance salesman, repo man and private detective.

After going into consulting in the 1990s Rodham worked at home in the U.S. and abroad on various projects.

But he came under scrutiny amid accusations that he used his connections to the White House and his brother-in-law, the president.

Rodham was said to have helped get a pardon for two people convicted of bank fraud in 1982, The New York Times reported in 2001.

He acknowledged that he helped obtain the presidential pardon for the Tennessee couple despite objections from the Justice Department

Rodham also had financial difficulties amid failed businesses and bad investments, USA Today reports.

He is survived by wife Megan and his three children, Zachary, Simon and Fiona. Rodham was previously married the daughter of former U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer, Nicole Boxer before their divorce in 2001.
