Terrifying moment mum wakes up in an Airbnb to find out she hadn’t been sleeping alone: ‘It was a crime scene’
- Mum wakes to find animal urine and poo in her bed
- She had been staying at an Airbnb
- The hosts found the culprit was a possum
A woman has filmed the ‘crime scene’ she woke to after spending a night away at a ‘very nice’ Airbnb.
Shannon was excited to get away for the weekend, but didn’t realise she would be sharing her bed.
When she woke up the ‘other side’ of the bed was covered in urine and poo – making the Aussie woman feel very uneasy about her mystery snuggler.
She said she slept right through the night and didn’t notice when a possum scurried down the chimney to join her in bed, or when it disappeared early the next day.
‘There’s poo on the floor. It’s an animal, I’ve just woken up to a crime scene and I didn’t know about it all night,’ Shannon said in an Instagram video.
She said the Airbnb hosts were quick to rectify the situation and came to the house to catch the possum who was hiding in the fireplace, board it up and replace the mattress and sheets so she could enjoy the rest of her stay.
Mum Shannon had slept through a possum coming into her Airbnb room through the chimney then reliving itself on her bed and all over the floor
In the clip, Shannon showed the carnage the nocturnal marsupial had left in her bedroom.
‘I slept on that side of the bed and I’ve woken up and this is here. We’re in an beautiful Airbnb and something has slept with me and I don’t know what it was,’ she said showing the urine and faeces centimetres from where she had been sleeping.
She said there were also footprints on the pillow.
While Shannon was out sightseeing, the Airbnb hosts caught the possum who was hiding in the chimney, replaced the mattress and sheets and boarded up the fireplace
‘The Airbnb hosts have been incredible. We went sight seeing today and they came – new mattress, new linen, everything thrown out,’ she said in a follow-up clip.
‘They boarded up the fireplace so my little mate couldn’t visit me last night. Can confirm though, I did not sleep very well.’
The two videos of Shannon’s ‘unfortunate holiday incident’ were seen more than 114,000 times.
‘WTF!! I would be booking into a hotel quick smart,’ one woman said.
‘It had probably been hanging out there for days,’ a second speculated while a third said: ‘My biggest nightmare’.
‘You are very calm!! And brave!!!’ someone else replied.
‘Your host did such a fantastic job of taking accountability and immediate action!’ added another.
