They famously let their hair down at the tequila bar every year at the National Television Awards, knocking back the shots in style.
And 2018 was no exception for This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby, 36, and Phillip Schofield, 55, as they failed to show up for work on time on Wednesday morning.
Mass panic ensued at the television studios as producers were forced to upload an error message on screen in their absence, no doubt leading their viewers to wonder where on earth they were.
But they soon showed up and ended the show by climbing into a bed together, which had been artfully placed within the studio.
We’re sorry…Our presenters haven’t turned up’: Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield caused mass panic on This Morning as they failed to show up for work on time following VERY boozy night at the NTAs – but later burst through the wall
What have they done? Mass panic ensued at the television studios as producers were forced to upload an error message on screen in their absence
They are DONE! The pair ended the show by whipping off their shoes and climbing into a bed exhausted
Before their arrival, the announcer said: ‘It seems we have a problem with studio eight. We’re trying our best to sort it out. In the meantime here’s some elevator music from Bradley Walsh.’
A sign then came up saying: ‘We’re sorry for the disruption. Our presenters haven’t turned up. We are working hard to fix the issue.’
Holly and Phillip then burst through the screen with their award for This Morning for Daytime TV show, looking bleary-eyed and with Schofe struggling to make his voice work.
She’s done it again: Holly was pictured looking a little sozzled as she stumbled into her car at the end of the night
He can’t hold back: Phillip could be seen struggling to hold back his laughter as Holly appeared incredibly worse for wear
Silver fox: Phillip shared this not-so bright-eyed snap of himself with his gong from the studio
Blonde beauty Holly, who admitted she had only had two hours sleep after heading to bed at 4am said: ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you. Look what you made us do. Each and every one is so important.’
Phil continued: ‘We had a lot of fun. My voice has gone down an octave.’
A bleary-eyed Holly continued: ‘I might read the autocue with one eye shut.’
As the crew giggled over Bradley Walsh being on stage, Holly said: ‘I thought “Have I done Judy Finnigan? Has my top fallen down?”‘
Nice gong: Phillip and Holly made quite the entrance as they burst through a paper wall into the studio
They made it: Phillip put his hand to his face as he clutched their award for This Morning for Daytime TV show
Blonde beauty Holly said: ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you. Look what you made us do. Each and every one is so important’
Phil continued: ‘We had a lot of fun. My voice has gone down an octave’ as he wielded their gong proudly in front of himself
Loving a snack: Holly had already eaten a full English and a fry-up for breakfast but couldn’t resist taking Phil Vickery up on his offer of a bacon sandwich
Wolfing it down: Phil appeared rather shocked as Holly gobbled it up live on air as he certainly wasn’t at a point where he could consider eating yet
Bradley too, has woken up with a headache and an Instagram account and posted a picture of himself looking rather hungover indeed.
He appeared to take it in his stride as This Morning beat The Chase to the gong.
Last night Holly posted a picture of the two of them and said: ‘I actually love this man.
‘He’s just joined Insta… give him hell’
On Wednesday, he said: I’m not sure how today will go. It’s okay Holls, there is macaroni cheese waiting for you at the end of the show.’
Phil laughed: ‘Hair of the dog, hair of the dog.’
Holly added: ‘I have eaten a full English this morning and a pizza.’
The very svelte presenter then took up chef Phil Vickery’s offer of a bacon sandwich which she wolfed down live on air.
Phil looked rather shocked and the scene made him look rather unwell.
He said: ‘We differ because she goes straight in – I can’t eat,’ before nearly throwing up.
Twitter went wild during their appearance, with making people commenting on how they believed the pair were still drunk and how hoarse Phillip sounded when he spoke.
One said: ‘Schofe, you are sounding a bit rough today,’
Another wrote: ‘It’s clear they are both still drunk and@hollywills is a bit more worse for wear than @schofe. Well done guys, thoroughly deserved.’
A third added: ‘They are actually still drunk, hahaha #ThisMorning.’
Early on Wednesday morning, Holly shared a picture of herself eating a slice of pizza as she tried to curb her hangover, writing: ‘Breakfast.’
Domino’s, The Official Food of the After Party After the After Party, sent Holly and the This Morning team a selection of pizzas to celebrate, and Holly chose a slice of Pepperoni Passion to prepare for the show.
Some hours before, she was pictured looking very worse for wear indeed as she stumbled into her waiting car.
While Phillip hopped into the front, he could be seen struggling to hold back his laughter as his co-star put her hands to her face after a major drinking session.
Bradley Walsh also shared a hungover snap after drunkenly joining Instagram the night before. Drinking a cup of coffee, he looked seriously down in the dumps as he rested his face on one hand.
Holly did compose herself together enough to post one of her daily OOTD posts before the show started, writing:
It’s not time for bed yet: The pair took a well-needed rest on the sofa when it all became a bit too much
Who wore it best? They also conducted a hangover poll, to see who was handling theirs the best. The vote swung in Holly’s favour, with 80% of the votes
Absolutely defeated: The pair really looked done in as they abandoned their scripts and sipped on water
Let it end: The pair looked rather overwhelmed by how they were feeling during the show
‘Morning… … today’s look on @thismorning dress by @chintiandparker boots by @topshop #hwstyle.’
This Morning bagged the Daytime prize once again, beating the likes of The Chase, The Jeremy Kyle Show and Loose Women, despite each losing out on the TV Presenter award.
Thrilled with the gong, Phil gushed: ‘We love getting up very very early in the mornings even when it is cold and dark, so we can work on a show that we are so proud of and I can work with someone who I absolutely adore.’
Holly made sure to add: ‘I am lucky to work with not only one of my best friends and one of the best teams in the business… you are the best, we love you!’
Giggles and scenes: The beloved pair were in very high spirits throughout the night with Phillips’s wife, Stephanie, sat to the left of him
Capturing the moment: Phillip took plenty of selfies on the night alongside Holly and Bradley Walsh
Holly almost wiped out the cast of Emmerdale when her phone dropped from the balcony at the party.
The This Morning host ‘could’ve killed someone’ when her mobile slipped from her hand while she was nattering with Graham Norton after the glamorous ceremony and it plummeted into the bash below where the cast of the ITV soap were showing off their snazzy moves on the dance floor.
Speaking on today’s brunch time show, Holly said: ‘I was in the car and I got a message from you [Alison Hammond] saying, “Have you got your phone?” What happened was I was talking to Graham Norton and my phone literally flew out of my hand….’
Alison chimed in: ‘It was a very high drop – a massive drop – and you could’ve killed someone. Shall I tell you what happened to your phone?
‘It actually fell into the cast of Emmerdale while they were partying and then they had to fight their way through security in order to get the phone back to you. So there’s a lot of apologies to make.’
Going for it: As the night wore on, Holly appeared to be getting more and more into the spirit of things with Keith Lemon sharing this video of her
Wish us luck: Holly kept her fingers crossed throughout the night as they learned whether or not they would win a gong
Phillip said on the show the next day as he laid in the studio bed nursing his sore head: ‘Thank goodness it bounced off the Emmerdale cast otherwise you might have broken your screen.”
A concerned Holly realised her error and said: ‘I hope everyone is alright.’
And Alison replied: ‘It didn’t land on anyone. But it landed in the party.’
Phil said: ‘At least it bounced off them, otherwise you might have broken the screen.’
They also conducted a hangover poll, to see who was handling theirs the best. The vote swung in Holly’s favour, with 80% of the votes.
After the show, they had to go and film something for Dancing On Ice AND Saturday Night Takeaway.
They’ve done this before: In 2016, Phil and Holly famously came into work wearing the same outfits from the night before as they came to the studios straight from partying
In cahoots: The pair admitted they had struggled to get through the show as Holly kicked off her shoes to go barefoot
Phillip and Holly were not the only people to suffer a fall from grace after the big night out.
The small screen’s biggest stars experienced something of a fall from grace as they made dishevelled exits while the unpredictable conditions – and the free bar – took a swift shine of their red carpet composure.
Tess Daly, 48, was also pictured staggering into a taxi, while mum-of-two Michelle Heaton, 38, was already lamenting the ‘walk of shame’ school run.
Strictly Come Dancing’s Tess saw the funny side as she struggled to keep up right in her taxi home.
She giggled as she landed on the seats after tripping on her staggering heels, but laughed off the gaffe as she tried to regain composure among friends.
‘They are still drunk!’: Twitter went wild after Holly and Phillip’s post NTA appearance on television
Meanwhile, mum of two Michelle awoke to the realisation that everyday life was not going to feel so easy on Wednesday, writing in an Instagram post: ‘Oh .. my … good .. god! the school run ….#hungover #walkofshame #othermumsdontjudge.
‘You know what I don’t actually regret a thing (or any shot) .. both kids are at school today . Just gotta get through the morning .. And I’m off all day long. (sic)’
She summed up what was sure to be a mutual feeling, as Coronation Street stars including Lucy Fallon and Catherine Tyldesley seemed headed for a hangover.
Following her momentous win for her role as Bethany Platt in the soap, Lucy experienced a fall from grace on a giddy return to her hotel.
Grubs up: Early on Wednesday morning, Holly shared a picture of herself eating a slice of pizza as she tried to curb her hangover, writing: ‘Breakfast’ (left) while Bradley Walsh shared a hungover snap after drunkenly joining Instagram (right)
Glamour: Holly still managed to find time to post her usual OOTD post before beginning the show and she appeared very together
Holly had shared this image of herself with Bradley writing: ‘I actually love this man. He’s just joined Insta… give him hell’
Lucy’s plunging black dress slipped down, causing an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction. Nevertheless, Lucy seemed unaware of her nip-slip and hopped out of her car with a smile.
Her co-star Catherine seemed more perturbed by the wind, which wreaked havoc with her professionally coiffed hair do.
She kept her head down as loose strands were blown about by the blustery conditions and she caught a chill on her shoulders.
I’m A Celebrity’s Amir Khan was pictured stumbling around on the red carpet clutching his phone.
