Hollywood actress Ione Skye has revealed the heartwarming way her Australian musician husband Ben Lee supported her as she wrote her new memoir.

The English-born star, 54, appeared on The Project on Friday and told the hosts how well she was supported by her Aussie husband, 46, during the writing process.

‘He’s my romantic partner, best friend and sort of therapist! We have a lot of mutual friends so he sort of knew everything,’ Skye began.

‘[When writing the book] It took me awhile to get over the grieving of losing my first husband as a friend, and Ben was very patient.’

Skye added she felt lucky to be married to such a great man, as she wrote her newly released tell-all memoir Say Everything, which discusses her first marriage to Beastie Boys star Adam Horovitz.

‘Ben loves a strong woman. He’s proud of my life and happy to see how I have grown. He’s kind of incredible that way,’ she gushed.

She added she was so grateful to have formed a connection with Ben, who she married in 2008 at the age of 38, after the end of her first marriage.

‘After my first marriage ended, I had an aunt who found her great love at 65. I thought that maybe that will be me. I found Ben sooner than that, I am just lucky,’ she said.

The couple married in December 2008 in a Hindu wedding ceremony in India, nine years after Skye divorced Horovitz in 1999.

They have one child together, daughter Goldie Priya Lee, 15.

Ben dated American actress Claire Danes, 46, between 1999 and 2003.

In 2022, the pair discussed their laid-back marriage and rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle with Stellar Magazine.

Skye said with both of them being creative souls, they love to entertain and have people over.

‘I guess they say you marry one of your parents. My mum liked to have fun, and it wasn’t like in a heavy rock ‘n’ roll way,’ she told the publication.

‘She was still very reliable, but she just loved community and [having] people over. She [hosted] a friendly poker game and she just liked cooking and people around.

‘We usually have jams on a Friday night – just a sense of what it was like in our 20s. We’re older now, but [we] like that kind of vibe’.

Elsewhere in the interview, Ben discussed the iconic 1989 film, Say Anything, which made his wife a pin up girl for scores of fans in the 1990s.

‘I’m not nostalgic. I’ve learnt to appreciate my past in as much as other people appreciate it. I’m always thinking about today and tomorrow,’ he said.

‘Ione, every now and then, she’ll post a picture from Say Anything… It’s not like she desperately feels the need, but she does it because it makes people feel good’.

Say Anything is a romantic drama starring John Cusack, whose character Lloyd Dobler famously held a boombox above his head to woo his love interest Diane Court, played by Skye, in a scene that has become a part of pop culture history.
