The Matrix and Home and Away star Matt Doran reveals his VERY surprising day job he uses to ‘take the financial pressure off’ between acting gigs

He’s the former Home and Away star who landed memorable roles in The Matrix and Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.

But despite his success in Hollywood, Matt Doran has revealed he still has a day job that helps pay the bills in between acting gigs.

‘I also do building work to keep myself busy and to pay the bills,’ the Australian actor, 46, told Daily Telegraph on Wednesday.

‘It does take that pressure off,’ added the father-of-two.

He also revealed he still takes acting jobs whenever they arise, describing it as ‘my main passion.’

‘When something comes along now then great, I would love the opportunity but if it is not there, no worries, I have other stuff to do and things to keep myself busy with so it keeps me grounded,’ said Doran.

Doran is best known to Australian audiences as Damian Roberts on Home and Away, a role he played between 1991 and 1996.

His Hollywood break came in 1998 with the Terrence Malick drama The Thin Red Line, before a breakout role as ‘Mouse’ in The Matrix.

He is also known to international film fans as ‘Elan Sleazebaggano’ in Star Wars Episode II – Attack of the Clones.
