The famous duck-shaped spongecake features a fluffy frosting, a popcorn head, a potato chip beak, a red bow tie and eyes made with licorice and button chocolates.
‘Did anyone ever honestly choose the rubber duck from the old school Birthday Cake Book? Honestly?’ Rove wrote on Facebook.
‘I can’t imagine anyone wanting to celebrate their birthday with this abomination of sweet and savoury: “Yum. The creamy icing really brings out the flavour of these salty potato chips! Best party ever”.’

One mum added: ‘We did the duck cake for our daughter’s first birthday. It was amazing and very memorable,’ while another said: ”My mother-in-law made it for my daughter’s first birthday, it was a huge hit.’
While one woman added: ‘I had it for my 12th birthday, it was the best. The icing tasted beautiful, I ate more of that than the cake.’
