Home chef shares her simple tip to elevate even the most basic salad: ‘It hits different this way’

  • Sydney foodie Ayeh Manfre said you need to chop up salad ingredients tiny
  • This means you get a little bit of everything each bite; then eat it with a spoon

A home chef and foodie has shared her simple trick to elevate even the most basic salad, and it’s got nothing to do with the ingredients.

Ayeh Manfre, who goes by Cooking With Ayeh online, posted a video on TikTok, where she said that the best way to improve your salads is to chop up everything you’re putting in them really small.

This means that you can use a spoon to eat them and you get to enjoy a little bit of each flavour with every bite.

‘Here’s a tip to make any salad taste better,’ Ayeh posted with the video.

‘The key is you need a spoon, because salads with a spoon always hit the spot a little bit different.’

She added: ‘This is because you get to taste a little bit of everything in every bite.’

On this particular occasion, Ayeh made a Greek salad with tomato, cucumber, red pepper and red onion ‘all chopped into tiny cubes’.

One of her other top tips is to soak the onion in water, which helps to get rid of that ‘harsh onion-y flavour’.

In her Greek salad, Ayeh said she also included ‘juicy Kalamata olives’, which she chopped up, as well as feta crumbled on top and a homemade dressing.

To make the dressing, Ayeh combined olive oil, vinegar and oregano.

Then, simply serve with a piece of crunchy sourdough.
