Home invasion in Matraville: Man assaulted, car stolen in Sydney’s east

Two men are on the run after attacking an elderly man in his own home and stealing a car from the property. 

Just after 11.10pm on Sunday, police were called to Jersey Street, Matraville, following reports of a break and enter.

A 65-year-old woman was confronted by two men, while another man assaulted her 70-year-old partner, causing injuries to his head and hands.

After the attack, the men stole the keys to a blue Subaru XV, which they used to flee the scene.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 70-year-old man at the scene before transporting him to Prince of Wales Hospital. He is in stable condition.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to call Eastern Beaches police or Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
