An Australian home stylist has revealed how she turned a plain Kmart lamp into a pair of chic wall sconces for just $38.
Dina Santos, from Brisbane, made the stylish lights without having to hook them up to the main power with the help of some remote controlled puck lights and wall hanging strips.
In a video posted to her popular Instagram page, Dina said she used Kmart’s linear wood based lamp to create the sconces which is on clearance for just $25.

The mum-of-two disassembles the lamp so she is left with the wooden base and saws it in half lengthways
‘This transformation cost me $38 in total and was able to make two wall lamps. I used the Kmart linear wood base table lamp, two puck lights (you can find them at any Bunnings, Kmart or IKEA stores) and two wood strips for each side of the lamp,’ she wrote.
The creative DIY-er, started by carefully disassembling the lamp so she was just left with the wooden base.
She sawed the base in half lengthways, sanded down the coarse edges and glued on two wooden strips.
Dina sands down the edges and glues some thin wooden strips over the top, then she drills some holes in the top so the light will be able to shine through

Dina said thanks to the adhesive command strips, the lamp base can easily be removed to change the remote-controlled puck light’s batteries when they run out
Dina drilled some holes into the top so the light can shine through then stuck four hanging wall strips to the edges.
The mum-of-two took her puck lights and stuck them to the wall where she wanted her sconces to go and placed the wooden lamp base over the top.
Dina said thanks to the adhesive command strips, the lamp base can easily be removed to change the remote-controlled puck light’s batteries when they run out.
