A woman who has been couch surfing since losing her home last year says she will no longer be putting a dent in her friends’ sofa after winning a monthly income in the lottery.
The 40-year-old, from West Australia, who lost her home after falling into financial strife says she hopes to use her windfall of $20,000 a month for 20 years to buy herself a house, donate to charity and buy her friend a new couch.
‘What goes around comes around,’ she says, adding she wants help people who have found themselves in tough situations to return the favour of support given when she too was down on her luck.

‘Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to win but now that I have I’d like to help people who, like me, have found themselves in a tough situation,’ she said.
‘I had support when I was down on my luck so I’d like to return the favour.’
The woman said with Telethon just around the corner she had also planned on making a sizeable donation to the charity.
‘Not only am I set for life, but with $20,000 a month coming to me over the next 20 years I can afford to share the love,’ she said.

The news of the woman’s win came after a woman from Massachusetts hospital worker Mavis Wanczyk won $758.7 million in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s Powerball jackpot.
