Homeless man pleads guilty to stealing purse from victim

A homeless man who was hailed a hero of the Manchester bombing attack today admitted stealing a purse from an injured victim while her granddaughter was dying.

Chris Parker, 33, admitted taking Pauline Healey’s purse as 14-year-old Sorrell Leczkowski was dying just yards away from her. 

He also pleaded guilty to stealing a mobile phone from another victim of the attack which left 23 people dead on May 22.

He was initially dubbed a hero after he claimed he had comforted a seriously injured girl following the terror attack.

His trial was due to start today and was scheduled to last three days until his changed his plea at the last minute. 

Parker, who is now living in Halifax, West Yorkshire, will be sentenced on January 30.
