Horrific surveillance video shows a cement truck fatally running over a cyclist in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, New York, on Monday.

The video shows Devra Freelander, 28, a sculpture and video artist, riding her bicycle into the intersection of Bushwick Avenue and Boerum Street at around 12.20pm.

As she cycles onto the pedestrian crosswalk, a cement truck traveling eastbound on Boerum Street collides into her.

The driver of the truck, a 70-year-old motorist, stayed at the scene until police arrived, according to the New York Post.

Freelander is the 15th bicyclist to be struck and killed by a motorist in New York City this year

Freelander is the 15th bicyclist to be struck and killed by a motorist in New York City this year

Freelander’s work has been featured in Times Square and Long Island City’s Socrates Sculpture Park.

She is the 11th cyclist to be struck and killed while riding her bike in Brooklyn this year – and the 15th fatality in all of New York City.

The number of fatalities has already surpassed 10, which is how many riders were killed in New York City in all of last year.

The spike has prompted activists to demand that the city do more to create protected bicycle lanes.
