Horrifying 911 calls from Florida school shooting

Terrified students and parents frantically called 911 in just released audio during the school shooting in Parkland, Florida while calm dispatchers try to talk them through the terrifying situation. 

In one call the dispatcher is replaying information through a student’s mother who is on the phone with her daughter. The girl is hiding in a classroom by herself with one other female student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School during the February 14 shooting. 

The dispatcher replays to the mother that the girls need to be quiet and keep hiding while the horrific situation unfolds.

‘She’s terrified right now,’ the caller told the dispatcher. ‘She’s afraid to talk, they’re hiding right now.’

Her mom is heard tell her daughter, ‘I love you, I love you. It’s going to be fine. Can you hide somewhere? Can you play dead? You need to do it. If he shoots, you need to play dead … Tell her to pray. Tell her to pray for strength.’ 

‘Be quiet, be quiet, keep the phone line open,’ the dispatcher warned. ‘Don’t move. Just stay hidden.’ 

The dispatchers are heard speaking calmly while trying to gather as much as they can for first responders in 10 released calls.

A total of 81 calls were made to the 911 center during the shooting that left 14 children and three teachers dead.       

In another of calls released on Thursday, someone is calling from inside the school. 

‘Someone’s shooting up the school at Stoneman Douglas,’ the caller whispered.

The dispatcher asks the caller to repeat himself and he says again ‘Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School is being shot up,’ he said before the line went dead. 

The calls flooded the 911 line from 2:22pm to 3:35pm.

In another call a mother says she is texting with her daughter who is hiding behind a desk inside the school and that her daughter had told her there was an active shooter in the building and that she heard shots fired. 

In that call the mother is trying to help discern where the shooter is in the building by texting her daughter who is hiding in room 1213 to help the dispatch get an idea of where the shooter is.

The mother said the glass on the door where her daughter was hiding was shot out.  

In another call from a man in Coral Springs is was also relaying info from a girl in the building.  

‘It sounded like possible shots in the background,’ he said. ‘I think I heard five or six in two different bursts.’ 

He then followed up to say he got another call from someone advising that ‘someone was shot in the 1200 building.’ 

Nikolas Cruz, 19, has admitting to carrying out the shooting that killed 17 students and faculty and wounded 17 others. 

The remaining calls will also be released via requests.
