Horrifying scene as blood-drenched toddler is found next to lifeless body of tragic woman, 21 – as detectives arrest her ex-partner
A bloodied toddler has been retrieved by police from the horrific scene of an alleged fatal domestic-violence related stabbing.
The three-year old child was rescued by Newcastle police from a flat where a 21-year-old woman was found dead with stab wounds late on Friday.
The deceased Mayfield woman’s ex-partner is under police guard at John Hunter Hospital.
The grisly scene shocked first responders and left a seasoned senior police officer severely shaken, the Daily Telegraph reported.
‘I’ve just spent the last 20 minutes or so viewing body worn footage and it was a horrendous scene, horrendous,’ said Newcastle City Commander Superintendent Wayne Humphrey.
He confirmed a child was found at the scene but was removed ‘unharmed’ and is now safe with relatives.
