Horror as man, 33, is tied up and sexually assaulted in his own home by a stranger – as 37-year-old is arrested over the attack

Police are investigating the circumstances in which a man was allegedly tied up then sexually assaulted in his own home by a stranger.

The 33-year-old victim was taken to hospital after police were called to the house near Armidale in New South Wales on Sunday.

A 37-year-old South Australian man was later arrested at a home in Uralla and police believe he did not know his victim.

The victim was in a stable condition in hospital. 

The 37-year-old was charged with five counts of aggravated sexual assault – deprivation of liberty, and aggravated sexual assault inflicting actual bodily harm on the victim.  

He was refused bail and will appear in Armidale Local Court on Monday.
