A South Sydney Rabbitohs young gun has been rushed to hospital after collapsing in training, according to reports.

Leon Te Hau, 21, remains in hospital and is undergoing testing after he was physically ill and fainted during a training session at Heffron Park, the Daily Telegraph reports.

Club officials promptly called for an ambulance and the Queensland Under-18 representative was taken to hospital.

Te Hau is viewed as a huge talent at the Rabbitohs, although he is yet to play a first grade game.

The same outlet reports that the Bunnies expect the 21-year-old to be fine.

The spotlight is on Souths after a horror start to the season has seen pressure mount on footy coach Jason Demetriou.

The club has won only one game thus far and reports have suggested that Demetriou could be fired and replaced by former mentor Wayne Bennett.

However, star back Cody Walker has insisted the players are all still putting in the effort for Demetriou.

‘We always try and go out there and fight for the jersey and fight for the coach,’ Walker said.

‘We’ve got tremendous respect for JD and how much work he puts in. We wanted to show that tonight. I thought we did that.

‘The scoreline probably doesn’t reflect the tightness in the game. But you can see the effort and the energy and everything happened.’
