A transport worker has been stabbed by a teenager inside a shopping centre.
The 60-year-old bus security officer was patrolling bus stops at Robina Town Centre on the Gold Coast when was stabbed in the hip at about 1pm on Wednesday.
Paramedics treated the man inside the shopping centre before taking him to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
The man’s wounds were described as non-life-threatening.
There was heavy police presence on Wednesday afternoon with numerous cops and detectives inside the centre and blue curtains blocked shoppers from the scene.
A police spokesperson said officers arrived at the shopping centre at about 1pm to find the man but initial investigations suggested the offender had fled.
Investigations into the incident continue.
Police are reportedly investigating whether the attacker had followed the 60-year-old into a corridor between the car park and the shopping centre, where the staff toilet facilities are located.

It’s understood the safety officer was on his way to the bathroom while on a break.
The shopping centre described the zone as a ‘non-public’ area.
Witnesses reportedly described how a young teen male allegedly attacked the man before fleeing.
Executive General Manager for South East Queensland and Tweed Heads Kinetic buses, Martin Hall said the incident was ‘deeply distressing’.
‘Kinetic is providing full support to (the Queensland Police) and our team members following the assault of a Network Officer at Robina Town Centre,’ he said to the Gold Coast Bulletin.
‘This is a deeply distressing incident, everyone has the right to be safe at work and the wellbeing of the Network Officer involved is our absolute priority.’

The incident is the second serious attack ono a bus worker in five months.
In May, a 68-year-old Kinetic bus driver was assaulted in the Gold Coast and left with a fractured ankle.
Three teenagers were charged as a result of the incident.
