Two people have died and four others have been taken to hospital after three vehicles collided on the Pacific Highway on Monday morning.

The collision between a Nissan SUV, a Toyota Landcruiser, which was pulling a caravan and a prime mover took place on NSW mid north coast.

Following reports of a crash, emergency services were called at about 9.50am to the northbound lane of the M1 Motorway, near Nabiac about 30km south of Taree.

Two people who were travelling in the Nissan SUV died at the scene and have yet to be identified.

The driver of the Toyota Landcruiser, a 42-year-old man and three passengers – a woman aged 43 and two children aged 8 and 9 – were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.

Local MP Tanya Thompson wrote on Facebook: ‘Emergency services are responding to a two-car crash on the Pacific Highway near Crokers Rd, Nabiac.

‘Sadly, there have been multiple fatalities confirmed, and other occupants have been transported to hospital.

‘My thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families, friends, and first responders affected by this heartbreaking incident.’
