A man has been violently stabbed in broad daylight in the middle of Sydney’s CBD.
Emergency services rushed to Rawson Place in Haymarket just after 9am on Friday following reports a man had been stabbed.
The 55-year-old man was treated by paramedics at the scene as a 32-year-old man was arrested and taken into custody.
The victim was transported to St Vincent’s Hospital with stab wounds to his lower back, chest and shoulder in a stable but critical condition.
NSW Police confirmed emergency services had arrived in Haymarket at about 9:20am after reports of a stabbing.

‘Police were told a 55-year-old man was stabbed in the lower back, chest and shoulder,’ a statement read.
‘Police rendered first aid before he was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
‘He was later transported to hospital in a critical but stable condition.
‘A 32-year-old man has been arrested and was taken to Day Street Police Station.’
Police said there is no ongoing risk to the public.
