Horses were evacuated from an equestrian show after a fire broke out in a multi-storey car park next to Liverpool’s Echo Arena.

The Liverpool International Horse Show was being held at the arena in the city centre on Sunday.

But the building had to be evacuated after a fire involving a number of vehicles was reported shortly after 4.30pm.

Those attending the event shared posts online saying the show had been cancelled.

Lauren Elizabeth Addinall shared pictures showing the evacuation of the horses, adding that it was due to ‘cars blowing up.’

But she added that all of the animals were taken out of the building safely.

‘Absolute nightmare being a fire or something everyone evacuated even horses,’ she wrote. ‘We can’t get in anywhere!’
