Victims of a paedophile doctor who abused child cancer patients have shared a £600,000 payout with boys targeted getting an average of £40,000 each.

Myles Bradbury was jailed for 22 years in 2014 after carrying out medical examinations on boys ‘purely for his own sexual gratification’ while working at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

The paediatric consultant haematologist filmed some of his victims – aged between 10 and 16 – using a spy pen and abused others behind a curtain while their parents were in the room.

According to a freedom of information request published by the BBC, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust has paid out £611,750 in compensation to victims and their families.

The BBC said the figures relate to 15 cases out of the 31 claims the trust received.

Police found more than 16,000 indecent images of children on a disc in Bradbury’s home.

He admitted 25 offences dating between 2009 and 2013, including sexual assault and voyeurism.

Bradbury would tell their parents they should leave the room in case their children got embarrassed, before sexually touching them for his own gratification and telling them it was a ‘legitimate examination’.

All his victims suffered from leukaemia, haemophilia or other serious conditions. Some have since died.
