- Bosia initially started to mumble while the family watched TV
- Eventually he started to repeat the word ‘mama’ in specific circumstances
- Owners say Bosia is a ‘hero’ and understands the meaning of the word
A dog from an isolated village in Russia’s Amur Obast region has amazed the world by learning to call its owner ‘mama’.
Footage posted online shows the small fluffy hound repeatedly saying the word in a haunting guttural voice as it is plied with treats by its owners.
Bosia’s owners, Natalia and Leonid Fedorenko, say they have had Bosia for the past 11 year and first adopted the cross-breed from an animal shelter.
Bosia’s owners claim that he says the word ‘mama’ daily and understands what it means
Natalia says Bosia first started to make noises that sounded like words when the family was watching TV but they never really took any notice.
But then he started to repeat the word ‘mama’, with the family claiming he now says it daily, and in specific circumstances, leading them to believe he knows what the word means.
‘It seems that he likes saying mama. We did not train him on purpose. It all happened by itself,’ she said.
The dog’s owners say he is the perfect family dog who is ‘so kind’ to the children in the family and their pet cats.
‘He is a hero,’ says Natalia. ‘We took him when he was tiny from an animal shelter for stray dogs. We had been looking for a tiny dog for a long time.’
