One person wrote: ‘I’d do exactly the same – and all his gaming stuff too,’ while another confessed: ‘Such a great idea.’

‘My lad would go mental if I did this,’ a third admitted. ‘He doesn’t even like me cleaning it.’

If you try this at home it’s important to not cover the vent on the side of the consoles to avoid overheating.

The savvy trick comes after a clever mother who was tired of her husband and children hogging the entire bed revealed how she created a 9ft-wide sleeping space on a budget.

UK mother-of-two Natalie Pavitt revealed she used two divan beds with no-slip mattresses in order to create the large bed, which only cost her £440 to make, including the price of delivery.

Natalie, who shared her idea and result with the Mrs Hinch Made Me Do It Facebook group, explained she had been quoted £2,000 for a similar custom-made bed, and decided to do it herself for a lesser price.

People were impressed with how well the two £216 divan beds fitted together, after Natalie explained she joined them using two double sheets, two king-sized duvets and eight pillows.
