Houston man charged with sending bomb-making guide to ISIS

A teenager from Houston has been charged with supplying ISIS supporters with bomb-making instructions.

Investigators also claim 18-year-old US citizen Kaan Sercan Damlarkaya, arrested on Friday, dreamed of being a ‘martyr’ and had twice tried to get to Syria.

According to a Justice Department statement released yesterday, Damlarkaya told undercover FBI agents he would commit an attack in the US if he was unable to get to the Middle East.

He gave Islamist fanatics guides on how to build AK-47 and AR-15 assault rifles from easily obtained parts.

Damlarkaya also allegedly provided IS supporters with a formula for the explosive Triacetone Triperoxide as well as instructions on how to use it in a pressure cooker device containing shrapnel.

If convicted, he faces a possible 20-year maximum prison term.

Speaking to KHOU, neighbor Edward Hood said he found the man to be ‘sharp’ and ‘laid back’.

Another neighbor, Jonathan Scott, said he was ‘kind of surprised’ by the arrest.

But the Justice Department accused Damlarkaya of discussing plans to use a samurai sword or machete in an attack if a bomb or gun was unavailable.

He also claimed to sleep with a knife under his pillow in case police ever came for him, the statement alleges.

The investigators claim he had explained it was his 'dream' to become a martyr - ie, murder people in the name of ISIS while dying in the process - and wished to create a huge explosion

He also reportedly asked if he could create a video to be played after his death.

Court documents claim that, in November, Damlarkaya explained: ‘if I buy a gun or supplies for a bomb, they [presumably law enforcement] will heat up pressure [j]ust like a few months ago when I was trying an operation but they found out.’
