How Amal Clooney’s makeup artist made her a walking advert

She may have no acting credits to her name, but Amal Clooney is always a star on the red carpet.

So as she accompanied her husband, actor George, to the Venice Film Festival, it seems her make-up artist saw the perfect opportunity for some free marketing.

The 39-year-old human rights lawyer has become something of a human billboard for cosmetics guru Charlotte Tilbury, who has been revealing on social media every lotion and potion she has used to get Mrs Clooney all glammed up.

As Mrs Clooney dazzled in a lilac Versace gown on Saturday at the premiere of Suburbicon, a film directed by her husband, Miss Tilbury told her 1.5million followers on Instagram about the 16 products she applied – which totalled an eye-watering £503.

The make-up artist, who has her own cosmetics brand popular with A-listers, did not use a single product from a rival company.

Instead, she used Mrs Clooney’s attendance at the premiere to showcase her new Hollywood collection, including applying three different shades of lip and cheek blushers, two lipsticks and numerous ‘contouring’ lotions – which add highlights and shadows to enhance facial features.

Beside a picture of Mrs Clooney before the event, Miss Tilbury wrote: ‘So much fun getting the mesmerising Amal Clooney ready.

Beneath that, she listed every product she used.

And the day before, she posted a picture of the Clooneys on a romantic boat ride in Venice on Thursday, with another luxury list and a caption saying: ‘So excited to be back in Venice with this beautiful couple.’

Mrs Clooney only gave birth to twins Ella and Alexander in June, and has been attracting particular attention thanks to her impressively toned physique, with no signs of lingering baby bump.
