Disney+ is coming to UK screens next Tuesday (March 24) and it couldn’t come at a better time if you and your family are currently hunkered down at home.

If you haven’t already subscribed, you can currently save £10 on the annual subscription plan when you pre-order Disney Plus. Up until 23 March 23, it will cost you £49.99 (rather than the standard price of £59.99) for a whole year of Disney movies, TV shows and Disney Original exclusives, plus all your favourite Star Wars movies, The Mandalorian TV series, Marvel films and TV shows including The Simpsons.

Frozen 2 is now available to stream in the US on Disney+, after Disney decided to ‘bring some fun and joy’ to families during the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be available internationally in Canada, the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand from Tuesday, but it has not been confirmed whether the UK will be able to stream Frozen 2 on Disney Plus early.

Can I watch Disney Plus on my TV? 

Disney+ is available to stream on a number of devices, including Apple iPhone and Android smart phones, iPads and tablets, computers and laptops, select video games consoles and select smart TVs. It is also available via Amazon Fire TV devices, Google Chromecast and Chromecast built-in devices. 

Disney+ will also be available to access through Sky Q, followed by Sky’s NOW TV in the ‘coming months’.

If you do not have a compatible smart TV, you will either need to switch to one or use an alternative device to access the Disney+ service on your TV.

What TVs will Disney Plus be on?

Disney+ will be available as a built-in app on most smart TVs, including compatible Samsung and LG TVs, plus all android-based Sony smart TVs. If a built-in app isn’t available on your smart TV, you will need to check with your manufacturer, upgrade, or use an alternative device. 

If you don’t own a smart TV, you can still stream the service via an Xbox One, a PS4, Amazon Fire TV device or any of the others previously mentioned above. 

How do I get Disney Plus on my Smart TV? 

Generally, you will need to search for the Disney Plus app using your TV’s search function, enter ‘Disney+’ and click to download the app. The Disney+ icon should then appear in your app menu.

You will then need to sign up to Disney+ or log in to your account to access the Disney Plus library.

Will there be a Disney Plus app for Philips Smart TVs?

There will be a dedicated Disney Plus app for Philips Android TV owners to install and access from the launch date (March 24).

Does Samsung Smart TV have Disney Plus? 

Disney+ will be available on Samsung Smart TVs from 2016 to the current models with with Tizen OS. If you own a television from before 2016, you will likely need to refer to your user manual for a workaronud, switch to a compatible model, or use an alternative device.

How to download Disney Plus on Samsung Smart TV

Here’s how to install Disney+ on your compatible Samsung Smart TV:

  • Select Apps on the Home screen
  • Select the Search icon in the top right corner and enter ‘Disney Plus+’
  • Click to install the app
  • Once installed, you can launch it by pressing the Disney+ icon
  • Log in to your account or sign up and save £10 if you pre-order Disney+ before 23 March

How to download Disney Plus on LG Smart TV 

Disney+ is available on LG TVs made from 2016 onwards that run webOS 3.0 or later. The app will be available through the LG Content Store.  Here’s how to install Disney+ on your LG TV:

  •  Join Disney+
  • Access the LG Content Store from your TV’s Home screen
  • Select the search icon at the top of the screen and look for the Disney+ app
  • Using your TV remote, click the ‘Install’ button
  • Once the app has downloaded, you can press the Disney+ icon to launch the app on the LG Home Launcher

How to download Disney Plus on Sony Smart TV 

If you own an android-based Sony Smart TV from 2016 or later, such as the Sony Bravia, you will be able to install a dedicated Disney+ app to your home menu. 

If your Sony TV isn’t an Android, you should refer to your TV manual or contact the manufacturer for potential workarounds.

  • Sign up to Disney+ 
  • On your Sony Smart TV, access the App store
  • Enter ‘Disney Plus’ using the search button
  • Using your remote, select the Disney+ app and press ‘Install’
  • Once the app has completed its download, open the app
  • Log in using your Disney+ credentials to access the streaming service

How to install Disney Plus on Amazon Fire TV devices

  • Enter ‘Disney Plus’ in the search bar on the top left of your screen and select from the list
  • Select the Disney Plus app under ‘Apps & Games’ and click ‘Get’
  • Wait a couple of minutes for Disney Plus to download
  • You will then be prompted to open the Disney Plus app
  • You can either open the app or return to the Home screen
  • If you desire, you can move Disney Plus to the front of ‘Your Apps and Channels’ by hovering over Disney Plus app and clicking the Options button on your remote (three horizontal lines). Then click ‘Move’
  • You’ve successfully installed the Disney Plus app 
  • The Disney+ app will be ready to use once you’ve logged in or created an account
