How Kate Garraway’s lost two stone before I’m a Celebrity

She has shed an incredible two stone ahead of appearing on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

And Kate Garraway has given an inside glimpse into her rigorous diet plan, which includes swimming, yoga and cutting down on alcohol and sugar.

The Good Morning Britain host, 52, overhauled her lifestyle to get jungle ready and prepare for the iconic shower scenes – for which she has packed a tiny bikini.

The star started by sacrificing her Saturday morning full English breakfast, replacing it with healthy and protein-rich poached eggs and avocado.

She also ditched her pre-8am chocolate snacks, telling Fit & Well last year: ‘Because of the crazy shifts I do , I regulated my energy with sugar bursts.

‘I didn’t think I ate a lot of sugar but by 8am, I’d always had lots of chocolate. Now I eat avocados obsessively. Having avocados and and low-sugar foods help keep my energy levels up.’

Kate added: ‘I stopped drinking caffeine and now I eat avocados obsessively because I found one of the diets was high in good fat, medium protein and zero sugar – which is a bit extreme for me.

The star also recently told Closer Magazine she was inspired to cut down on alcohol after tests revealed she had fat around her liver. She started with quitting alcohol for a month before limiting herself to one drink at events.

‘I thought I didn’t drink that much but when you stop completely it is a shocker. You realise that a glass here, going to a function there, it all adds up.

Kate now only enjoys the occasional drink and blowout with her girlfriends.

The star has also incorporated regular exercise into her everyday routine, with lots of walking, yoga and swimming on the agenda.

Speaking to The Sun in 2018, she said: ‘I turned 50 last year, and like many women of my age I struggle with my bottom sagging, tummy wobbling and flabby upper arms.

‘I don’t want to look old in my advanced years so I go on a power walk for half an hour every day, and it helps to keep the pounds off.’

Calorie intake is only half the equation, and the presenter also signed up with a personal trainer and began running, doing squats, yoga – and the trendy hobby of forest bathing, a Japanese ritual that involves immersing yourself in nature and whose devotees include the Duchess of Cambridge.

A friend told The Mail on Sunday: ‘Kate has taken two types of bikinis, some old-fashioned ones that cover her up quite well, and, at the bottom of her case, a couple of more skimpy ones.

‘She told a neighbour and some friends that they would know how confident she was feeling in the jungle if the racy ones ever saw the light of day – especially the polka-dot one. She hasn’t worn a bikini like that for many years now. It would be such a TV moment if she decides to go for it.

‘She looks amazing and she has joked that she could do a Myleene in her skimpy swimwear. She has a great sense of humour and is really proud of what she has achieved in terms of her weight loss.

‘Missing out on those weekly fry-ups has been a wrench for her but it has paid off.’

But while she’s set to face a number of gruesome challenges and creepy-crawlies, the main thing that terrifies Kate Garraway is heading into the iconic jungle shower.

The star recently revealed that she’s fearful about stripping off in the shower – made famous by Myleene Klass – as she has an ‘ordinary body with ‘cellulite’.

She said: 'I don't want to look old in my advanced years so I go on a power walk for half an hour every day, and it helps to keep the pounds off' (pictured earlier this month)

Despite having an amazing figure, which she showcased in a stunning red jumpsuit amid her arrival in Oz, Kate admitted that she’s ‘nervous’ about stripping off in front of the nation.

The presenter told The Mirror that she’s armed herself with a number of styles of swimwear, so she’s prepared for any eventuality.

She added to publication: ‘I am very nervous about that because I’ve got an ordinary body. I’ve not got a celebrity body. That’s the problem, I’ve not got a celebrity body.

‘So I’m taking in a skimpy bikini and I’m going to see if the experience of being in the jungle is enough to make me let go of that fear, and by the end of it I actually put that bikini on.’

Kate told how she’s getting her body ready for jungle life by coating it in fake tan, joking that she’ll be the only contestant that ‘gets whiter’ over time.

The star went on to describe her body hang-ups, adding: ‘I’ve got a lot cellulite and my thinking was brown cellulite is better than white cellulite. It’s not much to cling to, but it’s what’s I’m clinging to right now.’
