How Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet looked ‘out-of-sync’ at Coachella, according to body language expert

Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet indulged in a very public display of affection at Coachella on Saturday but a body language expert has since hinted that all is not what it seems.

The couple recently went viral for an awkward exchange in the audience at a tennis match during the BNP Paribas Open that sparked frenzied speculation about the strength of their relationship.

Nonetheless, they appeared to put on a united front by sweetly holding hands when they surfaced at the music festival in Indio, California, together this weekend – but was it enough to put a stop to the rumors? 

In several new clips shared on X, formerly Twitter, Kylie, 27, and her beau, 29, were spotted immersed among other festivalgoers but were still exhibiting a somewhat ‘awkward’ dynamic, body language expert Judi James exclusively told DailyMail.com.

Weighing in on what she thinks is really going on with the couple, Judi explained: ‘Kylie and Timothee’s passion and affection rituals here are similar in theme, essence and composition to the demanded kiss that Kylie performed at the BNP open, where she grasped his head in both hands to pin it and turn it in to face hers despite the fact that Timothee’s eyes and attention were speared in the direction of the play.

‘Kylie looks like a focused and insistent lover who knows what she wants and expects and how it should look when it comes to PDAs, while Timothee looks easy-going and compliant in terms of not instigating but often being the first to break away.

‘So, at Coachella we can see the couple in several sensual poses that suggest intimacy and affection. 

‘But when some of those moments are broken down it looks like Kylie doing all the heavy lifting while Timothee appears out of synch and politely less inclined to act seductive or seduced.’

Referencing one clip from Coachella, which had Kylie going wild in the crowd as Timothee took a much more sedate stance directly behind her, Judi explained: ‘Kylie is standing in the audience in front of Timothee and it’s clear she’s catching the mood of that audience and perhaps doubling it, leaping and jiggling while tossing her hair in some flirtatious-looking dance moves. 

 

‘Her behavior looks happy and uninhibited but behind her Timothee looks more like an awkward dad at a kid’s party.

‘His smile looks polite, and his body is placed at a polite social distance from Kylie when he might have been closing in to share the wild dance moves. 

‘His reaction ritual to the music is some nodding to the beat and he has his hand placed on the rail rather than on Kylie’s body.’

In another of the clips, Kylie stood once again was standing in front of her lover but this time he had his arms wrapped around her waist.

Turning her attention to this interaction, Judi shared: ‘[Kylie] is again standing in front of Timothee and this time their torsos are close in a more intimate pose. 

‘It’s Kylie who leans her head back for a kiss here and it’s Timothee who obliges but it’s also Timothee who breaks first rather than nuzzling in.

‘When Kylie dances, she is clapping, but he rather oddly begins to use her pelvis as a bongo. It’s Timothee who instigates the next kiss, but he does so as the start of a ritual of disengagement.

Overall, Judi hinted at a seeming imbalance in their relationship as she concluded: ‘Timothee doesn’t seem to match Kylie’s love of the passionate PDA’

‘He slides his hands back off her hips but again her more demanding side emerges as she clutches his hands and pulls them back into position. 

‘He ends with two light “bongo” pats on her bum but again it is a ritual of disengagement as he parts to step around beside her.’

Overall, Judi hinted at a seeming imbalance in their relationship as she concluded: ‘Timothee doesn’t seem to match Kylie’s love of the passionate PDA. 

‘His body language rituals suggest a more reserved and possibly private personality at a point in the relationship where they might be more finely tuned and synchronized. 

‘We would normally be seeing more “opportunistic” touches and rituals from a partner who is being flirted with and kissed, where he might ramp up the touches or body proximity rather than closing it down or looking overly polite.’
